May marks MCS Awareness Month, with 12 May recognised as MCS Awareness Day across the world. Throughout this month, we come together to raise understanding, visibility, and compassion for those living with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS).
To help make MCS more visible across the UK, we’re introducing our new Wear Yellow & Green for MCS Campaign – and we warmly invite you, your family, friends, and wider community to take part.
This campaign is about visibility and creative expression. Yellow and green are powerful symbols of MCS awareness, and art offers a meaningful way to communicate lived experience – especially when words are not enough.
Here are some ways you can get involved:
- Wear yellow and green on 12 May, especially a yellow and green hat and scarf.
A scarf worn around the neck can be a powerful visual symbol. For many living with MCS, the neck and airway area are where fragrance and chemical exposure feel most overwhelming. Wearing yellow and green around the neck also echoes our logo — creating a visible sign of solidarity and awareness. - Decorate a window, porch, or workspace in yellow and green.
- Create and share artwork inspired by:
- Your lived experience of MCS
- The impact of fragrance and chemical exposure
- Strength, resilience, and hope
- The colours yellow and green as symbols of awareness
Your artwork might be a painting, drawing, digital design, photography, poetry, textile piece, or any creative form that expresses what MCS awareness means to you.
Once you’ve created or displayed your contribution, take a photo or send a digital copy to us.
By sharing your image or artwork, you are giving permission for MCS-Aware to feature it on our website, in newsletters, and on social media as part of our awareness work. Selected pieces may be highlighted to help increase visibility and showcase the strength and creativity of our community across the UK.
Let’s make May – and especially 12 May – a month of visible solidarity, creative expression, and growing awareness

Thank you for standing with us. We look forward to seeing your creativity shine.
