A national environmental health survey was conducted in the USA of child care centres to provide information on lead, allergen and pesticide levels in licensed US child centres. Although the conclusion was that most centres didn't appear to present risks from lead and allergens some centres did have unsafe levels of these contaminants.

Although there are extensive systems in place for pharmacovigilance in the UK, similar systems for detecting adverse health effects relating to pesticide exposure are rare. This report describes the epidemiology of pesticide exposures reported to poison centres in the UK over a 9-year period.

Farming and pesticide use have previously been linked to non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and multiple myeloma (MM). In this study agricultural use of specific insecticides, fungicides, and fumigants and risk of NHL and NHL-subtypes (including CLL and MM) in a U.S.-based prospective cohort of farmers and commercial pesticide applicators was analysed.

Farming and exposure to pesticides have been linked to non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and multiple myeloma (MM) in previous studies. This study evaluated use of insecticides, fungicides and fumigants and risk of NHL, including MM and other NHL sub-types in the Agricultural Health Study, a US-based prospective cohort study

For this study, UCLA researchers tested a number of pesticides in America and found 11 that inhibit ALDH (the enzyme aldehyde dehydrogenase from converting aldehydes — organic compounds that are highly toxic to dopamine cells in the brain) and increase the risk of Parkinson's and at levels much lower than they are currently being used.
